The 2021 Reunion will honor and celebrate the ship's 50th anniversary of commissioning. The original plan was to do this in the Seattle, Washington area the weekend of August 26th-29th, 2021. Unfortunately events in the area earlier this year have led to a change of the host city. The safety and concern for our shipmates and their guests are always of the utmost importance when planning the reunions.
Hosts Shipmate Gary Court and wife Becky ("I do it for the smiles!") have made it happen! They have put in place: Federal Tax ID#, State Tax ID#, Tax Exempt # and bank account.
The venue, banquet hall, and hospitality suite are set, menu picked, photographer hired – and even entertainment (which you will love!)! A special memorial is in the works for the shipmates lost. This reunion’s fundraiser is “A Ship Store” where you can order from the samples that will be on hand of custom designed USS Downes items. Some of the items are shirts, hats, hoodies, metal works, coffee cups and more! The monies raised will be used to fund future USS Downes reunions.
The “SAVE THE DATE” Cards will be in your Christmas Cards! The reunion package and registration forms will be mailed by 2/1/2021 which will include a card you must return if you want to be in a raffle for a USS Downes Quilt. Only one this year!!
They are only waiting for the shipmates to join in on the fun, smiles and the laugh this reunion is sure to bring!
